Elizabeth Charlotte Gowe departed this life on November 18, 2022, at her home on Spaniard Neck Road in Centreville, MD. She was 77 years old. Elizabeth was known as “Goldie” to all her friends and family. Born in Philadelphia, PA, on November 30, 1944. She was the daughter of the late Laura Ellen Summerfield and William Henry Heffer. She was raised in St. Michaels by her grandparents; Eleanor and William Summerfield. After attending St. Michaels High School she worked at the Tidewater Inn for more than fifteen years. She met and married Willard Hynson Usilton, Jr. and moved to Queenstown where they owned and operated the Queenstown Getty station for more than thirty years. Elizabeth’s greatest joy was her family. She loved gardening and yard work. Her special companions were her animals, Peaches and Finley. She is survived by two daughters, Lavenia Ellen (Vonnie) Gowe of Baltimore and Patricia Ann Kettering of Centreville; two granddaughters, Alicia Elizabeth Kettering-Lindner (Justin) of Centreville and Hunter Arielle Orem-Gowe of Baltimore; four great-grandchildren; Ashtyn Elizabeth, Makinley Grace, Owen Hynson and Crew Robert Kettering-Lindner, all of Centreville; and a sister; Gayle Lorraine Longfellow of Seaford, DE. She is preceded in death by her husband Willard (Sonny) Hynson Usilton Jr. on December 21, 2012. A visitation will be held on Friday, November 25, 2022, from 10 am -11 am, at the Fellows, Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home, P.A. in Centreville, MD. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Compass Hospice, 255 Comet Drive, Centreville, MD 21617 or to Queen Anne’s County Animal Services 201 Clay Drive, Queenstown, MD 21658.
