Emling, 102, of Du Quoin, passed away at 6:00 P.M., Thursday, October 13, 2022 at the Du Quoin Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Edna had been employed with the State of Illinois doing clerical work. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Du Quoin. She was born March 17, 1920 in Du Quoin, IL, the daughter of Merrill R. and Bessie Olive (Sights) Neal. She married Russell John Emling in November of 1943 in Du Quoin, IL and he preceded her in death on August 20, 2003. She is survived by two children – Michael Emling and wife Pat of Du Quoin and Sandra Moore and husband Tom of Oklahoma City, OK, four grandchildren – Christine McEntire, Kathryn Beck, Cynthia Hudson and Amy Wells, seven great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and three brothers. There will be no public services held. Private burial will be in the Sunset Memorial Park in Du Quoin, IL. Friends may make memorials to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and will be accepted at the funeral home. Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin is in charge of arrangements.
