Earline “Polly” Harris Armstrong 95 of Pleasant Grove, Alabama passed away on November 26, 2022. She was born on July 4th, 1927 to Vesta and Alpha Harris in Cullman, AL. She had 4 sisters and 2 brothers. She met her husband Charles while growing up in the Welti community and they married on December 14, 1948. They moved to Pleasant Grove in 1952 where they raised their four children. Mom said her greatest achievement was being a wife and mother and grandmother (Proverbs 31:28-29). After her children got older, she helped raise many children of working moms and also her grandchildren. She would play the piano and sing with the children and grandchildren and loved to play games such as dominoes, uno and pick up sticks. Later she became the cook for the Daycare and Kindergarten at First Baptist Church. One of the boys in kindergarten was asked what he liked best about going to kindergarten and his reply was “I like the cooker”. “Mama Polly”, as she was called by everyone was also an excellent cook and seamstress. She made many of the dresses that her daughters wore growing up. She also made many quilts. Let me say that if you have never been to a quilting bee, then you have missed a great opportunity to have a good time. She cooked Sunday lunch for her family every Sunday for up to 25 people. She would cook dinner, go to church, come home and have it on the table to eat by 12 each Sunday. She did this until she was 90 years old. When she got to the point she could not get around she began making purses out of plastic bags. She made hundreds of them in which she sold some and gave others away. She was preceded in death by her parents Vesta and Alpha Harris, three sisters Eleanor, Ruth and Millie, two brothers Raymond and Robert, son-in-law V. O. Roberts, and daughter-in-law Sandra Armstrong. She is survived by her son Steve Armstrong (Sue); daughters Debra Roberts, Robbie Patterson (Mark), and Rita Otwell (Jack); grandchildren Rodney Armstrong (Lauren), Brittney Wheat (Justin), Paige Patterson, Cameron Otwell (Jenn), Chase Patterson (fiancé Tiffany), Chazz Otwell (Macie), and Scott Roberts (Kim), great grandchildren Lauryn McCarty (Hunter), Brannen Roberts (Maggie), Mason, Anden, Avery, Amelia, Henry, Samuel, Jaxson, and Ozzie, great great grandchildren Jed and Eli, and a sister Sue Bice. A visitation will be held from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM, Tuesday, November 29, 2022 at First Baptist Church, Pleasant Grove followed by a celebration of life at 2:00 PM at the church with Rev. James Lee Parker officiating. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be made to First Baptist Church Pleasant Grove.

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of EARLINE POLLY HARRIS ARMSTRONG November 26 2022.
