Dorothy “Sister Anne Carl, I.H.M” Veronica Sefcovic, 88, of Clinton Twp. our loving, kind, generous and selfless sister, aunt and friend passed away on Saturday, December 3, 2022 at Bay Medical Care Facility. Dorothy was born in Detroit on January 12, 1934, the daughter of the late Method and Anna (Prchlik) Sefcovic. Dorothy graduated from St. Mary’s High School, Mt. Clemens and went on to earn her Masters Degree in Education at Marygrove College. She taught as a Nun at St. Mary’s, Wayne, Michigan, Christ the King, Detroit, St. Alphonsus, San Leandro, California, Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, Emmett, MI, St. Catherine, Detroit, St. Raymond, Detroit, and Sacred Heart, Roseville. She also taught at West Branch Elementary, St. Dennis, Royal Oak, St. Augustine, Detroit and St. Clements, Centerline, MI. She went on to do post graduate studies at Central Michigan University and Michigan State University. Dorothy enjoyed reading, dining out and traveling out west, Northern Michigan, and the Upper Peninsula. Dorothy enjoyed her visits to Florida for the holidays. She most enjoyed her trip to the breathtaking state of Alaska. One of her favorite pastimes was spending time with her teacher friends from St. Clements. She was a proud member of the Metropolitan Detroit Chorale. Along with her devotion to the Lord and His work, Dorothy, was very dedicated to caring for others. One of her greatest life accomplishments was singing with her choral group at Carnegie Hall in 2001. To carry on her legacy, Dorothy leaves her siblings, Thomas Sefcovic, William Sefcovic and Henry (Kathleen) Sefcovic; her nieces and nephews, Mary (Walter) Lechniak, Anthony (Penny) Ditri, Ronald Ditri, John (Norma) Ditri, Theresa (Albert) Preiwisch, Thomas (Crystal) Sefcovic, Carla Krause, Joseph Sefcovic, Chuck (Kristina Seay) Sefcovic, Natasha Sefcovic, Nadia (Lalit) Chopra and many great nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her siblings, Rosemary, Carl, Sylvia (Ronald) Ditri; sister-in-law, Grace T. Sefcovic; nephews, George Carbary, Matthew Carbary, Michael Carbar; niece, Cindy Carbary; great-nephew, Jeremy Hodgson, and Natasha’s husband, Daniel Tuma. Dorothy’s family will be present to receive visitors on Friday, December 30, 2022 from 10:00 AM until her 11:00 AM Memorial Liturgy at St. Jude Thaddeus (St. John the Evangelist), 614 Pine St., Esville, MI. Fr Dale Orlik will preside. A Rite of Committal to follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Roseville, MI, in the spring of 2023 at a specific date and time yet to be determined. The entire family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to Red Oaks Assisted Living, Bay Medical Care Facility, Tuscola Physicians, Dr. Kochanni Mohan, MD., Dr. Glen Kershon, MD., Dialysis Neurology Consultants and their dedicated staff for their exceptional care and compassion.
