Dorothy Marie “Little” Legard, 88, passed away during the evening hours of Friday (December 2, 2022) following an extended illness. Dorothy was born on February 6, 1934 in Saltville, VA to the late Bascom Leslie & Beulah Mae “Dye” Little. Dorothy was of the Christian faith. She enjoyed spending time with her family, cleaning house, yard work, and square dancing. Dorothy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend; she will be greatly missed. In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Samuel Caldwell Legard, Jr.; brother, Odell Little; and sister, Lillian Singleton. Left to cherish her memory are her son, Gene Austin Cunningham & wife Brenda; daughter, Cheryle Darlene Neeley & husband David; two sisters, Retha Skwirsk and Virginia Nelson; five grandchildren, Eric Cunningham & wife Tonya, Angela Simpson & fiancé, Stacey Farley, Amber Eades & husband Blake, Floyd Singleton IV & wife April, and Brooke Dean & husband Jared; several great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and host of friends. Committal services will be held in the Riverview Chapel at Garrett Funeral Home on Tuesday (December 6, 2022) at 2 p.m. Dorothy will be laid to rest at Mock Cemetery.
