Donna’s Obituary Donna Jean Ussery Brown passed from this earth on January 6, 2022 due to a relatively short bout of health complications. Donna Jean was born to Jesse Carlton and Lucy Elizabeth (nee Henry) Ussery on June 19, 1939 in Denison, Texas. Her childhood and teen years were spent in Cockrell Hill, Dallas, Texas where the family had moved. She married her husband, Charles Lee (C.L.) Brown, shortly before graduating high school. With C.L. being an enlisted Air Force member, after her graduation they began their life moving from air base to air base, starting with Newfoundland, but with most being at bases in Texas. They have two sons, Howell and Carlton, both currently of Denison. In her youth, Donna was an avid dancer performing in many recitals over the years. As a young adult she also engaged in painting, many works passed to friends and family. Due to a progressive, inherited blindness, she later taught herself braille and continued reading by that method until the advent of narrated books being made widely available for the blind. She also later used assistive technology screen readers to participate in the internet, while also eventually writing her own two self-published books, Truth Might Set You Free, and Big Questions with Little Answers. Donna was a lifelong homemaker, member of the Iris Society, and a Red Hatter in her time. She also enjoyed meeting with members and other families of the local Military Vehicle Preservation Association of which her “boys” were active participants. Donna is preceded in death by her parents and her only grandson, Aidan T. Brown. Read More
