Age 93, of Gordon, WI Passed away on Thursday, November 10, 2022. He was born on June 21, 1929 in Milwaukee WI. the son of Joseph and Mary (Novotny) Schmitz. He was united in marriage to Almara Rein on February 26, 1949 in St. Paul. Donald worked for 3M for over 40 years. He loved playing cribbage with family and friends, both at work and at home. He also enjoyed all kinds of card games. especialy poker. Donald was a talented wood carver and loved fishing and hunting with his sons. He is survived by his children, Larry Schmitz of Hayward WI, Greg Schmitz of Gordon WI., Jeff (Sue) Schmitz of White Bear Lake, Kim (Brian) Ferguson of Lake Elmo, and Jody (Gary) Mortensen of Trego WI.; 15 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and dear friends. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, November 29, 2022 at Kessler & Maguire Funeral Home, 640 W 7th Street in St. Paul, MN, visitation from 10:00 A.M. until the hour of the service. Interment at Resurrection Cemetery in Mendota Heights, MN.
