Dolores Jean “Dee” (Thomas) Ryan, age 90, of York, died peacefully at Autumn House-West on Wednesday, September 21, 2022. Born in York County on February 6, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Paul H. and Hattie M. (Gotwalt) Thomas. She was the loving wife of the late Richard P. Ryan, who preceded her in death on June 11, 1982. She was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church. Dee was a longtime employee of Katherine Beecher Candy. She was a large supporter of her older siblings and family. She enjoyed socializing with friends, going shopping, and playing bingo. She especially loved to spend time with her son Doug, only grandchild Carol and her sister Sandy. Dee is survived by her son Douglas T. Ryan, husband of the late Barbara Ryan of Dover, her granddaughter Carol A. Ryan of Dover, her sister Sandra M. Pike of Lancaster, her brother-in-law Rodney Spangler of Manassas, VA, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her siblings Mildred M. Hewitt, Emma E. Geesey, Carrie P. Thomas, Barnard E. Thomas, Paul H. Thomas, Warren G. Thomas, Leon J. Thomas, and Charles W. Thomas. A celebration of Dee’s life will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, September 27, 2022, at the Etzweiler Funeral Homes and Cremation Service, 1111 East Market Street, York, with her nephew Rev. Dr. Kevin Frain officiating. Interment will follow in Greenmount Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Dee’s memory may be made to the Salvation Army, 50 East King Street, York, PA 17401. The family would like to offer their sincerest gratitude to the staff at Autumn House for their caring and dedicated service shown to Dee over the years.
