Obituary On Tuesday, December 13, 2022, Dianne Marie (Stewart) Tinker passed away peacefully in the presence of her husband, Paul, after completing an 18 month journey with cancer, graciously, courageously and on her own terms. Born on Wednesday, February 23, 1949 to Gloria and Walter Stewart, Dianne grew up in Watertown, Massachusetts with her older sister, Patricia (Stewart) Morrissey and Walter “Skipper” Stewart. She graduated from Watertown High School in 1967, and became active in social and political movements at the local and state level. She met her future husband, Paul, at a New Year’s party in 1971 and they never left each other’s sides again. Together they had two sons, Michael and Kevin, and in turn, two grandchildren; a granddaughter, Chloe, daughter of Kevin and his wife, Lynn and a grandson, Benjamin, son of Michael and his wife, Erin. Dianne found joy through simple pleasures and purpose through faith and service to others. She loved music and dancing and had an enormous collection of records she played long after their quality had faded decades earlier. Music could almost always be heard coming from the house when she was home. She found purpose through service to others professionally as an optician and personally through her faith. Although a private person, she would occasionally share stories of meeting with and comforting the sick in the waiting rooms of the cancer treatment centers as she was awaiting treatments herself. It comes as no surprise to learn that she put the fears and struggles of others in front of her own, and that her compassion could be easily read and received by those who had the good fortune of chatting or praying with her in the most unfortunate of places. Dianne lived each moment on her own terms. Fiercely independent with what seemed an equally measured yet endless supply of strength, grit and love, she seemed to never get old. She was guided in everything she did by her unwavering faith, and was unafraid to stand up for what she thought was right. She enjoyed attending Bible Studies with friends at the Bible Baptist Church in Plymouth, and took tremendous pride in her Italian heritage. Regular visits to Las Vegas and the Grand Canyon brought fantastic stories of natural wonders and people watching. She loved her family with her whole heart, and she would say her greatest joy was her grandchildren. Of this she made no secret, and demanded she spend time with them well after losing her ability to do so easily. Her legacy is carried forward by her husband, Paul Tinker, her sons Michael Tinker and Kevin Tinker, grandchildren Chloe and Benjamin, sister Patricia Morrisey and many cousins whom she always referred to as “her brothers and sisters.” Please join us for burial on Saturday, January 14th, 2023 at 11:00 am at Vine Hill Cemetery in Plymouth, Massachusetts.
