Obituary Please share a memory of Diane to include in a keepsake book for family and friends. View Tribute Book Diane Lois Tietz, née Naumann, age 85, of Darien, Illinois; beloved wife of the late Elmer M. Tietz; loving mother of Susan (Dale) Michaels and David (Sherry) Tietz; dear grandmother of Daxton and Delaney Michaels and Courtney Tietz; cherished sister of Dennis (the late Dianne) Naumann; fond aunt and friend to many. For Diane Tietz, family came first. She so adored her children, Susan (Dale) Michaels and David (Sherry) Tietz and her grandchildren Daxton and Delaney Michaels and Courtney Tietz. She loved to enjoy cooking and baking with them, going to dance recitals and football games, celebrating holidays and of course birthdays with carefully chosen gifts and spending time hanging out at home and rejoicing at award ceremonies and graduations. With her brother Dennis Naumann (late Dianne), she had a special bond – and she visited him often in Wisconsin. She also was the best friend of so many – close family, friends from high school, her church, and the old neighborhoods, many for over 50 years. Her delight was in throwing grand parties first with her late husband Elmer and later at her townhouse (decorated anew to fit her new style) in Darien – the holidays or any day was the day for a get together with great food and wine. The holidays also always included decorations, for Halloween and for Christmas, often made with love by Diane – wreaths and candles and more- and she gave them as presents for her family and friends. She had a gift and love for ceramics she had a kiln in the basement of her Downers Grove house and gathered with others to have time together detailing their creations. Both Susan and David have so many ceramic treasures as beautiful memories and the Christmas ornaments she made and gave away will be long cherished by family and friends too. For Diane, her church provided her “home” with classes in person and then online and services every Sunday. She volunteered at the school, helped at rummage, and bake sales and gained comfort from her church throughout her life. She also was a volunteer at Good Samaritan Hospital, loving helping both visitors, families, and patients and giving back to so many. Travelling was both an escape and a joy. Visiting family in Colorado and Oregon, sailing in the Caribbean, winter trips to Puerto Vallarta for out-of-town vacations – and enjoying short road trips to Chicago for music, theater, and dining, to Lake Geneva and Lakeside Michigan, to the Arboretum to see her favorite flowers and the holiday lights – each trip was an adventure and fun – especially with family and good friends. Visitation Wednesday, November 30th, 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Adams-Winterfield & Sullivan Funeral Home, 4343 Main Street (1 Blk. So. of Ogden Ave.), Downers Grove, IL 60515.
