Obituary Please share a memory of Delos to include in a keepsake book for family and friends. View Tribute Book Delos “Del” Louis Gitre, age 85, of Metamora, died Monday, November 14, 2022. He was born May 2, 1937 in Detroit, to Delos G. and Helen T. (Munsch) Gitre. Del attended St. Joseph High School in Detroit. Mr. Gitre married Annette Duquette on July 27, 1968 in Southampton, Ontario, Canada. He spent his career working for General Motors at the Detroit Forge Plant in Hamtramck. Del retired from GM as the Supervisor of Quality Control. He was a longtime, dedicated member of the Metamora Lions Club…where he worked on many many projects and fundraisers over the years. Del was an avid outdoorsman! He was an excellent Bow Hunter and always enjoyed archery in general. Mr. Gitre boated and fished all over the State of Michigan, he especially enjoyed fishing in Lexington. Del and his family camped all over the State of Michigan, taking the fifth wheel camper and having fun everywhere they went. The Gitre’s always held a special place in their hearts for Sauble Beach, Ontario, Canada…very near where they got married. Del is survived by his wife: Annette Gitre; sons: Jason (Kristina) Gitre of Columbiaville and Alex Gitre of Metamora; grandchildren: Hailie Gitre, Kaycee Gitre and Logan Gitre; sister: Emy Whisman of New Baltimore, MI; and many other dear friends and family. He was preceded in death by his son: Randy Gitre; parents: Delos and Helen Gitre; and sister: Toni Hillman. In accordance with Del’s wishes, cremation has been entrusted to Muir Brothers Funeral Home in Lapeer. No formal service will take place.
