A memorial service will be held at 3 PM at the church hall. Clyde Allen Russell, 82, of West Hurley died Sunday December 25, 2022 at his home. Born October 25, 1940 in West Hurley he was the son of the late Garvin and Clara (Trowbridge) Russell. Clyde started work on his uncle Harry Ostranders Farm, then drove for Siller Beef Company and Trailways Bus Company before starting Russell Bus with his wife Elinor. He was a life member of the West Hurley Fire Department during which he was a captain and then fire commissioner. Clyde was elected as Town of Hurley Highway Supervisor from which he retired and was a member of the Reservoir United Methodist Church. Clyde and Elinor loved their motor homes over the years, traveling to all the local stock car races. They also loved to travel the Amish Country of Pennsylvania with their family and friends. Clyde was proud to be inducted into the Accord Speedway Hall of Fame earlier this year. Clyde is survived by his wife of fifty-three years Elinor; three children David Downes, Donald Downes and his wife Debbie, Dawn Wiacek and her husband Albert and Robert “Bobby” Russell (Partner Marcus Ferara); his Brother William “Billy” Russell; grandchildren Andrew and Emma Russell,Troy, Tyler and Marissa Downes, Megan Wiacek; great-grandchildren Lilianna Lane, Sadie Downes, and little friend, Myles Cowan. Many special nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his brothers Garvin and Charlie and sister Martha. Expressions of sympathy in lieu of flowers may be made in the form of expressions to the Reservoir United Methodist Church.
