September 3 1958 August 20 2022
Clifford “Cliff” F. Batz, 63, of Hershey, PA, passed away on Aug. 20, 2022. He was the husband of Michelle (Zawacki) Batz and father to Chloe. Cliff was a doting dad, a non-judgmental friend, a skilled athlete, and a man of faith. He was also a steadfast competitor — be it on the pickleball or tennis court, during cornhole games at company picnics, or playing the board game Sorry! against children. His time playing pickleball, a passion discovered in recent years, reflects many of Cliff’s loves, including learning new skills, building a community around sports, and coaching others. Early in his career, he was a tennis instructor and managed sports complexes. Even after he became a controller at Vantage Consulting Group, he continued to teach tennis. While he helped numerous people learn the sport, his favorite person to coach was Chloe. Cliff welcomed any opportunity to talk with others — from grocery store clerks to his work colleagues to his pickleball and tennis companions — yet his truest happiness came from being at home with family. Born Sept. 3, 1958, in Lebanon, PA, Cliff was the son of the late Francis and Alberta (Kreiser) Batz. In addition to Michelle and Chloe, he is survived by his sister, Cindy Lambert of Palmyra, PA, and brother, Barry Batz of Jonestown, PA. A Celebration of Life service will be held Sunday, Sept. 18, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. at LCBC-Harrisburg, 4150 Chambers Hill Road, Harrisburg, PA 17111. A time of fellowship will follow the service until 4:00 p.m. In lieu of sending flowers, please take on another person in a friendly competition, and have the winner boast that they are “the world champ.” Cliff would appreciate that.
