Obituary Clarida “Teri” (Stroik) Morton, age 79, of Eagle River, WI passed from this life into eternal life on December 30, 2021, surrounded by family at Brookdale Stonefield Memory Care Center in Middleton, WI. Her valiant battle with dementia was fought with strength and grace to the very end. Born in Stevens Point, WI on January 18, 1942, Teri was the beloved daughter of Joseph and Esther (Zinda) Stroik, dear sister of Roger and Alvina, much-loved wife of Richard “Mort” Morton, and the adored mother of her three daughters: Tammy (Morton) Waterhouse, Traci (Morton) Snedden, and Kim (Morton) Bruss. Teri graduated from Maria High School in Stevens Point in 1960 and, during those high school years, met her husband, Mort, at a PJ Jacobs school dance. They shared 57 loving years together enjoying bowling, playing cards, and their annual family summer vacation “up north” with their close friends. Throughout her life, she was committed to helping others in both her work and personal life. Teri supported her parents at Joe’s Bar “on the square,” Mort and her brothers’ subsequent ownership of Joe’s Bar, and then her and Mort’s ownership of Mort’s Dutch Door in St. Germain, WI. Additionally, through the years, Teri worked as a beautician, provided care for those residing at the Eagle River Nursing home, and led housekeeping services at Eagle River Memorial Hospital, all while enjoying an immeasurable number of treasured friendships. Despite these honorable accomplishments, Teri valued time with her family as the highest priority and cherished every minute, calling those times “just perfect days.” Teri was known among family and friends for her beautiful smile, ultimate kindness to others, selfless personality, enjoyment of polka music, outdoor walks, her love of diet Pepsi, Wisconsin fish fries and the occasional Miller 64. Visits to her relatives on “the farm” were among her favorite Sunday drives. In addition to her husband “Mort”, Teri is survived by her daughters, Tammy (Derek) Waterhouse, Traci (Dennis) Snedden, and Kim (Jeff) Bruss, grandchildren Austin Snedden, Taylor Mirwald, Ian (Alyssa) Snedden, Megan Mirwald, Alaina Snedden, Emily McGee, Riley McGee, and Roen McGee; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins who meant so much to her. Teri was preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Esther Stroik, as well as her brother, Roger, and sister, Alvina. The family would like to express sincere appreciation to relatives and friends who reached out to support Mort, Tammy, Traci, and Kim; to those who visited and sent cards to Teri’s home in Middleton, and to those who prayed for Teri as she journeyed through an exceedingly tiring process. They would also like to thank the dedicated staff at Brookdale Stonefield and Agrace Hospice who personally supported Teri and her family through some very difficult times. Amidst Covid-related concerns, a celebration of Teri’s beautiful life is planned for the summer in Eagle River. Details will be shared at a later date. Read more
