Charles’ Obituary Charles Marion Ball (Chuck), 80, of Mexico, passed away on Monday, December 26, 2022, at Pin Oaks Living Center. Memorial Services will be at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, December 30, at Arnold Funeral Home with Tony Maxwell officiating. Visitation is Friday from 9:30 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home. Burial will be in East Lawn Memorial Park. Chuck was born on January 6, 1942, in Mexico, Mo., the son of Lebbius Mack and Elizabeth Sue (Field) Ball. He was the Derby baby boy that year. On January 2, 1998, in Mexico, he married Betty Lou Miller. Chuck graduated from Mexico High School in 1960. He worked for 40 years at A.P. Greens. He retired in 2002. He was a member of Kentucky Road Christian Church. His late brother, John Ball, was one of the founders of the church. Chuck was president of the Mexico Senior Center for nine years. He was also a volunteer and delivered meals on wheels. Mr. Ball was a member of the Lions Club and for 48 years a member of the Mexico Oddfellows Lodge 99. Chuck liked to deer hunt with his children and enjoyed numerous fishing trips with his friends to Canada. He loved to go trout fishing at Bennett Springs, Mo., and kept a camping trailer there. He and Betty made numerous friends down there and have kept in touch with many of them. Chuck’s dad, Lebbius, worked at the Mexico Ledger for 50 years, and Chuck liked to search old newspapers for articles about his friends and cut them out and mail them the articles. He collected A.P. Green memorabilia and items pertaining to the history of Mexico, Mo. He also collected Mexico High School yearbooks. Around 1973, Chuck took flying lessons and learned how to pilot a Cessna 150 plane on his own. He really enjoyed that and reminisced about it a lot. Survivors include his wife, Betty Ball, of the home; two granddaughters, Danielle (Kyle) Westmoreland of Tebbetts, Mo. and Ashley Renee Ball-Parrott of Mexico, Mo., one grandson, Levi Ball of Washington, Mo.; one step-grandson, Terry Ball of Illinois; five great-grandchildren, Waylon and Wade Westmoreland, Randall Eugene Ball-Bailey, Hanna Bailey, and Charlie Ball-Parrott; and one sister, Mary Lou (Kenny) Tiller of Fulton. Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, John Nelson Ball; and his children, Charles Daniel Ball (5/10/2007) and Randall Eugene Ball (9/16/2008).
