View Tribute Book Charles Edmund Ellis Sr. was born on March 10, 1954, in Washington DC to the late Archie D. Ellis and Mary K Waters. He departed this life on Sunday, December 11, 2022. Charles or “Foots” as he was affectionately called, grew up in Southeast Washington DC and received his education in the DC public school system. Foots worked several different positions over his lifetime, including working at Eastern Market. It was the best of both worlds for him, as it gave him a chance to meet new people and see his friends and family. Foots was an avid Washingtonian. He loved The Commanders, Wizards and the Nationals. He also loved his seafood; he would love to go down to the old Wharf and get his oysters on the half shell. Known for his “colorful” language, Foots was the life of the party. You could always count on him for a word of encouragement or a swift kick to get people moving. With a smile that could brighten any day, he was always ready for anything. He loved spending time with his sister shopping or going out to eat. He loved getting a chance to bond with his son, grandson, and great grandson. He shined with pride whenever he talked about them, especially how heavy his great grandson was. He leaves to mourn his passing his son Charles E Ellis Jr, his sister Audrey, his grandson, Charles III, his great grandson Khalil, his nephew Philip, his niece Lanika, 2 great nieces, 1 great nephew, and 1 great-great nephew, along with a host of other relatives.
