Carolyn Sue Kelly, 81, passed away on Wednesday, October 19, 2022, in the comfort of her own home, with her family by her side. On January 14, 1941, Sue was born to Willard and Alice (Keith) Martin, in Brookfield, NY. She was a 1959 graduate of Bridgewater Central School. On April 23, 1960, Sue was joined in marriage to John Kelly in St. Joseph’s Church, West Winfield. They shared a blessed union of nearly 42 years prior to his passing on March 28, 2002. Sue worked at Sherwood Medical in Oriskany Falls, retiring in 2002. Early in their marriage, they had lived in Fort Benning, Georgia while John was in the National Guard. Sue was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. In her spare time, she loved to crochet and work on crossword puzzles. She enjoyed cooking, baking, and entertaining family and friends for dinners and holidays. Sue was a beloved active member of the Cassville Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary for 20 years. Sue leaves behind her children, Doreen Kelly, Cassville, Karen Kelly, Mesa, AZ, and Jerry (Margo) Kelly, West Winfield; grandchildren, Michael (Maryellen) Kelly, Waterville, Amber (David) Redner, West Winfield, Cheyanne (David) Laymon, Clinton, Spencer Kelly and his fiancée, Liz, West Winfield, Alex (Dustin) Kemp, Cassville, Morgan (Scott) Holbert, Waterville, and Carson Kelly; great-grandchildren, Tyler, Jessica and Trevor Kelly, Nora Laymon, Carter Kemp and Luka Holbert; brother-in-law, Arnold Puuding, Jacksonville, FL. She also leaves several nieces, nephews, and cousins that she held dearly in her heart. Sue will be sadly missed by her good friends, Janice Thompson, Alberta Bailey and Madeline McConnell. She was predeceased by her husband, John Kelly; daughters, Mary Rose Kelly and Teresa Lyn Chilldres; sisters, Charlotte Kerwin, Mary Alice Orcutt, and Florence Wheeldon; brothers, Sam Wratten, Willard (Ruggie) Martin, and Jon K. Martin; sisters-in-law, Katherine Puuding and Mary Agnes Kelly; brothers-in-law, Francis Kerwin and Frank Orcutt and son-in-law, Everitt Chilldres. Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Sunday from 1 to 3 p.m. at McGrath, Myslinski, Karboski & Nunn Funeral Directors, 470 French Rd., Utica. Funeral services will commence immediately following visitation at 3 p.m. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery, Bridgewater, on Monday at 11:30. In lieu of flowers, remembrances in Sue’s name may be made to the Bridgewater Ambulance or Cassville Ladies Auxiliary. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Sue’s family would like to thank Marla Smith, NP and her staff, Bridgewater Ambulance and Fire Departments, Cassville Fire Department and Hospice and Palliative care for their care and compassion shown.
