TROY – Carmel M. Crispo died peacefully on Wednesday, November 2, 2022 at the Eddy Memorial Geriatric Center in Troy at the age of 93. Born in Troy on May 8, 1929, Carmel was one of seven children born into the loving family of the late John and Maria (Nistico) Crispo. Known to many as “Carm” she was raised in Watervliet and was educated there in the former School 8. In 1948 she graduated from Catholic Central High School in Troy and soon after began a career which would last for more than 46 years with Pioneer Savings Bank in Troy and ultimately culminated with her retirement in 1994 from the positions of manager and assistant treasurer. Carm’s retirement years allowed her to enjoy quieter times spent with family and friends. In 2007, with her sisters Betty and Vicki, Carm moved from her life-long home on Third Avenue in Watervliet to the Cornerstone Apartments in Green Island where she had resided for a number of years before most recently residing at the Beechwood at Eddy Memorial in Troy. She was a life-long parishioner of the former Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Watervliet and was a member of the Savings Bank Women of the Capital District. In addition to her parents, Carm was preceded in death by her siblings. Joey Crispo, Betty Crispo, Vicki (late husband Larry) Dewine, Father Rod Crispo, OFM, Mary Grace (late husband William) Warren and Ben Crispo; and nephew, John Dewine. Surviving Carmel are her nieces and nephews, MaryEllen (John) Kane, Pam Warren, Larry (Katie) Dewine, Rick Dewine, Rod Crispo and Greg Crispo; as well as several grandnieces, grandnephews, great-grandnieces and a great-grandnephew and many Crispo family cousins.
