View Tribute Book Bernt (Ben) Nygaard, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed into eternal life on December 26th at the age of 88. Ben was warm, kind, and generous to all with too many acts of kindness to mention and revered by all who met him. Ben was an honorably discharged Korean War veteran. As the owner of Hall Flooring for over 46 years, Ben was a passionate businessman bringing Hall Flooring to great heights of success . A lifelong sports fan he rooted enthusiastically for his NY Rangers and was a long-time season ticket holder. Prior to moving to Bayside, he was a resident of Mineola where he was involved in and enjoyed coaching sports, village politics and was an active member of Corpus Christi Church for over 35 years. Ben enjoyed traveling and had a passion for newspapers, often reading 3 a day. Ben was pre-deceased by his parents Bernt and Elise, is survived by his loving wife Leyla, beloved by his 3 children Ben, Elizabeth, Michael (Maria) and his 6 Grandchildren, Grant, Matt, Julia, Olivia, Michael and Ryan and an endless list of friends. Visitation will be held at Weigand Brothers Funeral Home, 49 Hillside Avenue, Williston Park NY 11596 on Thursday December 29 from 3:30 to 8:30 PM and a Funeral Mass, Friday December 30 at 10:30 at Corpus Christi Church, 155 Garfield Ave. Mineola, NY. 11501.
