Obituary Bennie Foster Imes, Jr, 89, of Ironton, passed away on Tuesday, December 6, 2022 at the Randall Residence in Wheelersburg, Ohio. The Ironton native was born August 21, 1933, the son of the late Bennie Imes, Sr and Nancy Louise (Moore Sands) Imes. Bennie graduated from Ironton High School and at the age of 19 joined the United States Army. He proudly served for 3 years of active duty and 3 years of reserve duty. While still in the Army, he married his beloved wife of 63 years, Rosemary (Woodburn) Imes. After discharge from active duty, Bennie moved his family to the Dayton, Ohio area and worked for 34 years for AT&T/Ohio Bell. Bennie and Rosemary returned to Ironton for their retirement years. He took great pride and joy in gardening, stained glass and collecting a variety of antiques. In addition to his parents and Rosemary, Bennie was preceded in death by a young son, Ronald Allen Imes, and three half-brothers: Charles Russell Sands, Herbert Sands and Donald Sands. He is survived by his devoted son, David Lee (Bettina) Imes of Fairborn, Ohio, granddaughter Lauren Nicole (Brant) Holman and great-grandchildren Brodie Andrew Holman and Harper Ann Holman of Cookeville, Tennessee. A private, graveside ceremony will take place at a later date in Woodland Cemetery in Dayton. Please visit www.phillipsfuneralhome.net to offer condolences to the family.
