Andrew Douglas III of Marlton, previously of Mt.Laurel and Pennsauken, passed away peacefully on June 11, 2022 at the age of 86. Andrew was born in Camden, N.J. to father Andrew Jr., born Glasgow, Scotland and mother Edna Maud Rogers, born Wales. Andrew served in the U.S. Marine Corp from 1953 to 1959. He was stationed in Okinawa, Japan where he met the love of his life Chiyoko Kayo. They were married March 23, 1956. After discharge from the military, Andrew and Chiyoko moved back to the states in 1961. Andrew found work in the printing industry, joining the Amalgamated Lithographers of America Union, immediately became involved in local Union activities, and soon became a member of the Local Executive Board. In 1967, he was elected Recording Secretary of Local 14 in Philadelphia and appointed a full time representative to the organizing staff of the local. He remained in both positions until 1984 when he was elected President of Local 14-M GCIU and remained President until his retirement. Andrew worked tirelessly to enhance members quality of life, fighting for better working conditions, pay and benefits. Andrew spent his retirement involved in Local and National Democratic politics, continuing his belief in a better life for all. Andrew is remembered as being the friend everyone needed, the neighbor everyone wanted, the father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle and husband and brother-in- law we all dream of having. He remains an inspiration to everyone who was fortunate enough to have crossed paths with him. Beloved husband of Chiyoko (nee Kayo). Loving father of Bruce (Lois) and Mark (Kristina). Dear brother of the late Bruce (Carole) and brother-in-law of Keiko Mongan (Gary). Caring grandfather of Bruce A., Kaitlin (Jason), Ian (Becca), Amanda, and Andrew, and great-grandfather of Lylah and Declan. Andrew is also survived by his nephew Sabo Mongan (Jennifer) as well as many other nieces, nephews, family and friends. Relatives and friends are invited to the visitation on Friday, June 24, from 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM at Bradley Funeral Home, Route 73 and Evesham Road, Marlton, NJ. A time of sharing will be held at 12:30 PM the funeral home.
