Obituary Amelda Mary (Grundhoefer) Miller, 101, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 19, 2022 at Park Terrace Village. Amelda was born in Mariah Hill, Indiana on January 2, 1921 to the late Eugene and Matilda (Arnold) Grundhoefer. Amelda had a passion for cooking. She worked for Swift Packing Company for 17 years and was a cook at Good Samaritan Home for 15 years. Amelda retired at the age of 75 from Evansville Children’s Psychiatric Center where she was a cook. She was a faithful parishioner of St. Benedict Cathedral for over 70 years. In her free time, she would sit and relax on her front porch. She was an avid New York Yankees and IU Basketball fan. Amelda had a friendly personality and never met a stranger. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. She will especially be remembered for her beautiful smile, loving heart, and faith driven spirit. Amelda is survived by her daughters, Nancy Wilhite and Janice Hardin (Floyd), both of Evansville, IN; son, Richard Miller (Linda) of Evansville, IN; grandchildren, Rodney Hardin, Floyd Hardin, Lori Jones, Malinda Arguelles, Paul David Heath, Tracy Russell, Marcy Early, Richard Miller II, and Bronson Wilhite; 18 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren. Amelda was preceded in death by her husband of 25 years in 1966, Michael Floyd Miller; her parents; sister, Helen Mahoney; brothers, Arthur Grundhoefer and Raymond Grundhoefer; and granddaughter, Angie Shrodes. A Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, February 25, 2022 at St. Benedict Cathedral, 1328 Lincoln Ave., Evansville, IN 47714. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Friends may visit from 2:00 pm until 6:00 pm on Thursday, February 24, 2022 at Browning Funeral Home, 738 E. Diamond Ave., Evansville, IN 47711 and again from 10:00 am until mass time on Friday at the church. The family welcomes those who are unable to attend Friday’s funeral mass to join them via livesteam.
