Alma Lee Adams of St. James, Missouri passed away Wednesday, September 28, 2022 at the Stonebridge Care Center in Owensville, Missouri at the age of 92. Alma was born in Cedar Grove, Missouri on April 18, 1930 the daughter of George and Agnes (Wisdom) Lewis. On September 5, 1947 she married the love of her life Edwin Allen Adams, they lived a long and happy life together for sixty years and five months before his passing in January 2008. Alma accepted Jesus Christ as her savior at the age of 16 and has been a faithful member of the First Baptist Church in St. James for over 30 years. Alma was very crafty and enjoyed quilting, crocheting, and sewing. She also loved reading, especially reading her Bible. She also enjoyed a big garden that she and Edwin would lovingly plant together, and wait until the time the bounty would come to harvest, she would can and preserve for the winter, and they also shared the bounty with friends, family and neighbors. Alma worked for International Shoe Factory as a leading shoe designer. Although she and Edwin had no children of their own, she cherished her nieces and nephews. Alma Lee Adams is survived by several nieces, nephews, and extended family; and very good friends Debbie Firestine (whom she loved like a daughter), and Nanci Wisdom. In addition to her parents George and Agnes Lewis, and her husband Edwin Adams, Alma was preceded in death by her sisters, Alta Wells Gunter, Frida Lewis, Shirley Miller, and Georgia Yvonne Rupert. Funeral services for Alma will be held at 12:00PM on Saturday, October 1, 2022 at the St. James Chapel of the James & Gahr Mortuary. She will be laid to rest next to her beloved Edwin Adams at the St. James Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be held at the Chapel prior to the service from 11 AM until service time.
