Obituary Walter E (Bud) Andrews passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 23, 2021 after a long illness. He was 88 years of age. Bud was born and raised in Elizabeth. NJ. Parents were Walter E .Sr and Olive (nee Burke) Andrews. He attended and graduated from St. Benedict’s Preparatory School and St. Peter’s College, and Fordham University’s Fellowship Program. In the U.S. Army, he was based in Germany and later pursued a career in journalism, living In Washington, D C. He covered the Pentagon and Military Aerospace Industry for several publications including Reuters, Aerospace magazines Washington Times and United Press International. Upon retiring from journalism, he became a freelance contributor on a wide variety of topics. Bud enjoyed life and was blessed with a large circle of family and friends and his infectious laugh could be heard across the room. He is survived by his sister, Suzanne Jankowski of Houston, Tx and brother Richard Andrews of Bayville, NJ and an extended family of nieces, nephews and cousins. Viewing will be on Sunday December 5, 2021 from 2 to 5 PM at Higgins and Bonner Echo Lake Funeral Home, 582 Springfield Ave. Westfield followed by a funeral Mass at St Genevieve Church in Elizabeth on December 6, 2021at 10:00 AM In lieu of flowers donations in his memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital www.stjude.org/donate To send flowers to Walter E. “Bud” Andrews, Jr.’s family, please visit our floral store.
