Obituary Patricia O’Brien, 83, of Ottawa, IL, passed away Friday, June 18, 2021 at Pleasant View Lutheran Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. Francis of Assisi Church on Tuesday, June 22 at 11:00 am, with Rev. David Kipfer officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday, from 9:00 until 10:30 at Ottawa Funeral Home. Catholic Daughter of America Rosary at 9:00 am Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery. Patricia was born July 26, 1937, in La Salle, IL, to Juluis and Helen (Callahan) Mertel. She married Larry O’Brien on June 8, 1957 at St. Patrick’s in Ottawa. He passed away on May 15, 2018. Pat Graduated from Marquette High School in 1955. She worked at Echlin Manufacturing for many years. She was a member of Volunteer Community Hospital of Ottawa, St. Francis Altar & Rosary, Catholic Daughters of the Americas and Women of the Moose. She is survived by her sons, Mike (Kari) O’Brien of Ottawa and Terry (Chris) O’Brien of Channahon; her daughters, Laurie (Jack) McDermott of Mokena and Kelly (Scott) Soltis of Medina, OH; her grandchildrem, Shea (Heather), Kierstin, Logan, and Shane O’Brien, Darragh (James) Voy, Callan, Sloane, and Fiona McDermott, and Kaitlin and Kyle Soltis; her great grandson Brannigan O’Brien, and her sister, Peggy (Martin) VanBuren. Patricia was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. Pallbearers will be her grandchildren. Memorials may be directed to Marquette Academy.
