Obituary Helen Zander, at age 95 changed her angel status from earth to heaven on Tuesday May 26th 2020. Helen was born in Mt Vernon, Wisconsin. In 1945 she married Raymond Zander, and they were married for 60+ years. In 1948 they purchased the Zander family farm in Deerfield, Wisconsin where they lived for 50+ yrs and raised their 13 children before retiring in Peoria, Arizona. Helen loved her kids, cows and garden dearly. To know Helen was to love her. Helen ironically passed with her cousin Joe Collins and was preceded in death by her parents, Martin and Elizabeth; husband, Raymond Zander (2007); daughter, Paula Ramage (2012); sisters, Ester Wardale and Frances Edgington; and brothers, Russel and Harold Bakken. Her surviving family include her children: Daniel Zander (Virginia), David Zander (Judy), John Zander (Barbara), Rapheal Zander, Karon Peterson (Dave), Victor Zander (Sharon), Barbara Zander, Joan Boley, Chuck Zander (Karen), Tim Zander, and Donna Zander; 30+ grandchildren; 35+ great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren (Elliana, Dawson, unborn); brothers, Marvin (Pat) Bakken, Fredrick Bakken; sister, Margaret (Jim) Burmeister; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Due to COVID shut down at the time of Helen’s passing, the family had a virtual mass on Friday, June 26 in AZ and the follow-up celebration of life and burial was to follow on the one year anniversary in Wisconsin. One year is now and services will be held at St Francis Xavier Catholic Church and cemetery in Cross Plains, Wisconsin. Mass will begin at 1:00PM. In lieu of flowers, a scholarship fund will be set up. I am also working to see if the church will be live streaming the mass…. check back here for updates. Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Helen Zander May 26 2020.
