Obituary Elvin Leslie Bland, II, age 45 of Joplin, Missouri passed away at his home on Tuesday, October 12, 2021. He was born in Joplin, Missouri to Elvin Bland and Katherine (Nash) Bland on August 2, 1976. Elvin worked for the Missouri State Highway Patrol as a Commercial Vehicle Inspector for many years. He loved to hunt, fish, spending time with his family and especially, QT with Duck. Elvin married Cara Lynn (Freeman) Bland on May 8, 2012 at Laverne’s Chapel in Miami, Oklahoma, and he loved her with all his heart. He is also survived by his mother, Katherine Bland; daughters, Brenda Canedo, Kelly Parker, Evelynn “Duck” Sloane Bland; siblings, William Shipley, Marion Pink, Jackie Doke, Jerry “Curl” Bland, Dennis Bland; and his canine companions, Ruby Scherbatasky Bland and Jekyll Cocoa Bland. He was preceded in death by his father, a daughter, Britney Hoffman, and a sibling, Leslie Ruth Gann; and a canine companion, Sheldon Swarley Bland. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 19, 2021 from 4:00 PM to 4:30 PM at Simpson Funeral Home in Webb City with a eulogy service following at 4:30 PM, a celebration of life service will be held at Blackthorn Pub & Pizza in Joplin starting at precisely 6:36 PM. The family requests NO FLOWERS be sent, that instead donation be made to his wife to start a college fund for their daughter Duck.
