Dr Nirmala Arora, age 73, passed away peacefully in her sleep on December 26, 2020. Nirmala was born in Mumbai, India to Mr. Madanlal Arora and Mrs. Bhajnavati. She grew up in a loving family with three sisters. She graduated from Seth GS Medical College and KEM Hospital in 1967 and excelled in everything. Nirmala married Dr. Vipal Arora of Amritsar on February 22, 1973 and moved to the United States. She completed her residency in Pediatrics at Cook County Hospital and Mt. Sinai Hospital in Chicago, Illinois. She also completed her fellowship in Allergy/Immunology at Rush University Hospital in Chicago, Illinois. Dr. Nirmala Arora lived in Downers Grove and later in Oakbrook, IL for 40+ years. She practised Allergy/Immunology in Downers Grove and Bolingbrook treating thousands of patients. She is survived by her family: Husband, Dr. Vipal Arora; Daughters: Dr. Rinku Arora Shanker, Dr. Reema Arora; Son-in-law: Sean Shanker; Grandchildren: Selena Arora Shanker, Jayden Arora Shanker; Furry friends: Maya Arora & Sasha Arora. They all miss and love her very much. Dr. N, as her patients lovingly referred to her, was a kind person with a wonderful sense of humor. She was caring and generous to everyone she met. She made friends everywhere she went and they all loved her. She was so much more, an angel who earned her wings… Love, Family, Radhe Krishna are three words that perfectly describe her. She loved her family very much. She loved her daughters, grandchildren and gave them frequent cuddles and kisses. She loved practicing medicine. She was kind, spent time with her patients and got to know them personally. All her posts and Facebook pictures were filled with Krishna. She loved to listen to Krishna Bhajans. Dr. Arora worked tirelessly for over 40 years. Dr. Nirmala Arora served so many patients over the years, all of them loved her and she treated them with kindness and care. She touched so many lives and she will forever live on in their hearts and their memories. She enjoyed traveling, knitting, raising her children and grandchildren. Also, she loved spending time with Maya and Sasha, and many furry friends who are waiting eagerly to see her and play with her again. Since retiring three years ago, she loved to spend winters in Mumbai. She found peace in watching the ocean waves and practicing yoga. She also enjoyed spending time with her sister, her nieces and lifelong friends. Nirmala had quite the green thumb. She loved all flowers and plants. Her favorite flower was the carnation. She believed in Moksha. She truly believed that she is returning Home and that her beloved parents will be there to welcome her. She was very religious and spiritual. She loved to recite, sing hymns, and say her prayers often. She also taught her kids and grandkids to pray, recite hymns and the importance of prayer. Her family will be her legacy. Her children and grandchildren will carry her legacy forward of serving countless people.
