Nelson’s Obituary Nelson Leverne Collins, 82, of Marion left his loving family and went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, November 27, 2020. He was born on August 30, 1938, the son of the late John D. Collins and Flossie Strickland Collins. Nelson was a member of McMillan Baptist Church. After retiring from Heritage Sportswear, he enjoyed spending time with his family and most of all his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Nelson also enjoyed working outdoors and had a love for NASCAR, local racing, and football. In addition to his parents, Nelson was predeceased by a brother, Harry Collins and a great-granddaughter, Gracelyn Ford. He is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Lunette Roberts Collins of Marion; two daughters, Rhonda Harrelson (Radar) of Mullins and Amy Ford of Mullins; a son, Cody Collins of Marion; two grandchildren, Derek Trey Ford (Samantha) of Nichols and Brittany Hewitt (Johnathan) of Fork; four great-grandchildren, Leighanna Hewitt, Ashlin Ford, Taylen Ford, and Jada Hewitt; two sisters, Hazel Hudson (Danny) and Elsie Colbantz (Jerry) both of Indiana; a brother, David Collins (Della) of Marion, and many nieces and nephews. The family will have a small, quiet graveside service for Nelson on Tuesday, December 1, 2020 with Meares Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
