Joan’s Obituary Joan M. Thyen, age 90, of Hobart, passed away Friday, November 27, 2020. She was born on May 26, 1930 to the late Joseph and Anna Jarosak. Joan was a member of Assumption B.V.M. Catholic Church, St. Vincent DePaul Society, and St. Anne Confraternity of Christian Mothers. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She is survived by her son, Mark S. Thyen of Chesterton, IN; two daughters, Angela M. (Gene) Moench of Boone Grove, IN; Christine A. Vega of Crown Point, IN; seven grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Rachel Jarosak, Connie Jarosak, Rosemary Thyen and Jane (Jim) Krause; many nieces, nephews, and other loving family. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, John R. Thyen; one son-in-law, Kenneth Vega; siblings, Theodore Jarosak, Joseph Jarosak, John Jarosak, Larry Jarosak, Paul Jarosak, James Jarosak, Mary Mueller, and Thomas Jarosak. Private burial services for Joan will be held at St. Mary Cemetery in Crown Point with Fr. Lourdu Pasala officiating. Rees Funeral Homes, Hobart Chapel entrusted with arrangements.
