March 18 1998 October 7 2020
Jairin Nelson Brantley 1998 – 2020 Jairin Nelson Brantley, age 22, from Lehi, Utah, died by his own hand in the early morning hours of October 7, 2020. Born in Provo, Utah, Jairin lived with his loving family in four different states – Utah, North Carolina, Hawaii and Arizona – and two foreign countries, Japan and Israel. He had friends and loved ones in many places. While living on the beautiful island of Maui, Jairin attended King Kekaulike High School and participated in the drama club and marching band. In 2014 he moved with his family to Gilbert, Arizona, where he attended Highland High School and participated in the school’s acclaimed high school choral program. One of the highlights of his high school years was traveling with his talented friends and choral directors to New York City and performing at Carnegie Hall. As a small boy, Jairin spent hours searching for beautiful flowers to bring to his mother. He also – on several occasions – spent all of his money on a single gift for a beloved family member or friend. He had an exceptionally sensitive and giving heart that never grew tired of loving and serving. Jairin gave and deeply craved love and friendship. He loved a good laugh, and also liked to play jokes and pranks on his friends and siblings. Jairin was a bright, happy and talented child, but in his mid-teens he was diagnosed with a severe mental disorder. As time passed he struggled with severe and ever-worsening bouts of depression. With the help of family and exceptional friends and therapists, Jairin spent the last years of his life battling addictions and self-destructive behaviors. His addictions caused himself and others extremely deep sorrow at times, but his friends and family stayed by his side, constantly offering love and support. In the last few years before his passing, while working full-time, Jairin was taking classes and studying to become a therapist. His greatest desire was to help others. He had several jobs over the years and was always a conscientious and hard-working employee. He never wanted to disappoint anyone and was usually trying to make others happy. Jairin had the singing voice, radiant smile and heart of an angel. He loved music and theater and performed in varied choirs and theatrical productions. He was always the life of the party, and his smile could easily light up a room. He felt the pain of others very deeply and yearned to comfort those in need. In fact, his empathy and love for others was often so exquisite that he found it difficult to separate his own feelings from the feelings of others. Jairin was deeply loved and is going to be sorely missed. He is survived by his precious son, Wesley (15 months), two brothers, Adam (Kayla) (25) and Kainoah (11), six sisters – Kamri (23), Miriam (21), Caroline (19), Aria (17), Joelle (15) and Ellanne (13). He is also survived by his parents, Robert and Marta Brantley of Lehi, Utah, his grandparents Bob and Annette Priddis of Big Piney, WY and his grandfather Archie Brantley of Walnut Cove, NC. The service will be held on Saturday, October 17th at 11 am at the Traverse Mountain Stake Center – 2030 W. Chapel Ridge Rd, Lehi, UT 84043. Those wanting to attend are welcome, as Covid precautions will be in place. Beginning at 10:45 am, the service will also be broadcast on Youtube live at the following link: tmstake.page.link/tm9. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider making a donation to Marta Brantley @Marta-Brantley (Venmo) or mpbrnb@yahoo.com (Paypal) for Wesley’s future college expenses.
