A graveside service will be Sunday, August 16, 2020, at 2:00 PM at Friendship Cemetery with Bro. Kenny Gardner officiating. Lowndes Funeral Home will be directing. Mr. Corey was born December 24, 1942 in Lansing, MI to the late Ella Jane Hewlett and Joseph Corey. He was the 1960 MHSAA boy state individual record holder for track and field and received many other records for track and field, he received awards for academic accomplishments. Mr. Corey was a varsity letterman for football, baseball, track, and basketball. He graduated in 1961 for Grasslake, MI with high honors. Mr. Corey loved to watch sports and spend time with his family. He was the Vice President of Perma Corp. In addition to his parents, Mr. Corey is preceded in death by his wife-Rita Juanell Corey. Mr. Corey is survived by his daughters- Renee (Neon) Bobitt of Columbus, MS and Jennifer Corey of Los Angeles, CA; son- Richard Corey, II of Atlanta, GA; grandchildren-Drew (Shelbi) Young, and Kourtney (Scott) Gilmore; great-grandchild- Sade Vera Young; brother- Edward (Moira) White and sister- Patty (Jerry) Simpson. Honorary pallbearers will be Ray Gore, John White, current and previous employees of Perma Corp and Consolidated Pipe.
