Obituary Tyler Jay Thatcher, born January 19, 1994, shared 26 years with his family, friends, and those others lucky enough to have met him or to have spent passing moments with him. He loved life as much as he loved its escapes, eventually leaving it of his own accord. For us, his loss resounds, amplified by shock, guilt, confusion, and an intense love that we who remain will forever question was adequately expressed, as would any who find themselves similarly afflicted. Tyler spent his youth and formative years in Sylvania, OH. He attended elementary school at Highland, junior high at McCord, and was a Wildcat on the swim team at Northview High School, from which he graduated with a partial scholarship to the University of Toledo in 2012. In high school and college, he spent semesters in Sweden and the Netherlands. He was well-traveled and appreciative of other cultures. He imbibed and he partook, but his excesses were yours and mine. During the first two years of college, his focus and interest waned. He left school and spent time working, playing, and becoming the person we know today. At 26, his ambitions once again blossomed, and he spoke often of his plans for a return to school and his future success. He would re-enroll at the University of Toledo, obtain a degree in HR Management, and grow his career – ambitions yet unrealized but pregnant with purpose. He pursued knowledge as fervently as he pursued the excitement of distraction. He was an avid gamer, a voracious reader, and was so apt at laze and leisure that a Sunday afternoon never lasted so many days for you as for him. Rarely arriving to engagements on time and perpetually unkempt, these transgressions were quickly forgotten due to his infectious good humor. He was loud, boisterous, gregarious, and forgivably obscene. He defended his opinions passionately, rose to anger quickly, and fell to tenderness quicker still. Possessed of an agile mind, he was full of wit and wonder, as capable of delivering scathing sarcasm as he was of philosophical rhetoric. Son, grandson, brother, boyfriend, nephew, uncle, cousin, friend – Tyler joins his sister Irene, and is remembered by mother Angalie; fathers Bill and O.J.; siblings Patrina, William, and Quinn; and girlfriend Stephanie. Many more are counted amongst family and friends, all of whom share in the fondest memories of our dearest Tyler. To send flowers to Tyler’s family, please visit our floral store.

Sympathies message

  1. Still can’t believe you are gone. Pray for you daily and keep your picture on my Divine Mercy Image. As Father said in his homily, each day ask Jesus to press Tyler to his sacred heart as he travels through purgatory to his final destination in Heaven.

As a parent I grieve for Bill, Angie., OJ, Wm, Patrina and Quinn. Never give up on the Mercy of God and live your life accordingly by forgiving, being patient and making a difference in a peaceful way.
    Aunt Diane Thatcher Brubaker
