Michael Brunner “Mike Eaze” June 24, 1979 – June 11, 2020 Share this obituary Sign Guestbook Michael Brunner was born on June 24, 1979 in Harlem Hospital, Harlem, New York, to parents, Rethena Brunner and Damon Singleton. Michael (affectionately known as Mike) attended Public School 200, Public School 125 and Junior High School 43. He earned his General Equivalency Diploma from Brandeis High School. Mike worked several jobs throughout his lifetime; one of his favorite was being a physical fitness trainer for NY Health and Racquet Club in 2010. In 2018, he worked as an electrician for DOH Maintenance Company. Mike worked hard to pursue a career in construction. He completed the Pathway 2 Apprenticeship Program and graduated on December 4, 2019. On February 24, 2020, Mike enrolled in Local 79’s Apprenticeship Class. In April 2020, he was employed by North Central Bronx Hospital as a Laborer. He was so happy and proud that his hard work paid off and he was officially part of a Union. Michael Brunner was featured in Laborers Local 79-NYC for working on essential and emergency construction sites across the five boroughs during Covid-19. Mike was known as “Mike EAZE” in his neighborhood. He had undeniable “swag”, or “drip”. When he showed up his presence and the famous Brunner smile lit up the room. Mike loved to tell stories and engage in deep discussion about almost anything; at the end of each conversation he would say “you know what I’m talkin’ ‘bout”. He was a positive, happy person and he was big on his appearance. He made it his business to look good, smell good, dress nice and keep his body in shape. Mike loved to spend quality time with family and friends. He touched many hearts with his good humor and comedic personality. He enjoyed making people laugh as much as he enjoyed a good meal. One of his favorite dishes was seafood, but everybody knows ‘that boy’ loved his Momma’s cooking. He is preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Dorothy Brunner and grandfather, Robert L. Brunner. He leaves to mourn: his loving mother, Rethena Brunner; step-mother, Janine Green; father, Damon Singleton; his two beautiful precious daughters whom he loved very much and held dear to his heart, Chloe Avari Brunner (9) and Nyla- Marie Rethena Brunner (2 months); five brothers, Lawrence, Malcolm, Damon, Shawn and Corey; two sisters, Shatasha and Shavonne; grandmother, Nell; six aunts, Marella Brunner, Tia Brunner, Debbie, Tracey, Siobhan and his favorite great-aunt, Gail Green; six uncles, Robert Brunner, Jr. (Sisco), Assad Brunner, Joneal Brunner, Kareem Brunner, Jamel and Troy; godmother, Audrey Atkins; his favorite cousins, Anthony aka “Choo” and Curtis; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
