Wayne A. Horne, Jr., an 8-year resident of Yonkers and formerly of the Bronx, entered into rest on April 29, 2020. He was 51 years old. Wayne was born on March 11, 1969 in Yonkers, the son of the late Mary (nee Lynch) and Wayne A. Horne, Sr. Wayne had worked as a Receiving Supervisor for CBS Television in New York City for 17 years and then at Fresh & Save Marketplace in Sunnyside and Woodside for 8 years before retiring due to his illness. New York City – specifically the Bronx was Wayne’s first love. However, Wayne’s happy place was South Florida – Ft. Lauderdale and Pompano Beach. He was a lover of mother ocean. He liked to fish in the Great South Bay on Long Island. He also enjoyed destination boating, especially to Cherry Grove on Fire Island. Wayne was an electronics enthusiast and an active Ham Radio Operator. He was FCC licensed with Amateur Extra Class radio call sign – WN2H. Wayne was a member of the Human Rights Campaign (HRC), the American Radio Relay League (ARRL), and the Yonkers Amateur Radio Club (YARC). He was a former member of the Knights of Columbus – Pro Patria. Wayne is survived by his Godmother, Rosie and husband, Tom Young of Florida; his two brothers; his best bud, Kenny Borbet of Queens, NY; his longtime companion, Harry Geant of Bayport, NY; his close friends and caregivers, Tara Gardner Taylor and wife, Nancy Lynn of Marlboro, NY. Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family. A celebration of Wayne’s life will be held at a future date.
