After living the life of a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend, Rudene was a teacher of the Word of God. She was a businesswoman, of course, but nothing topped her love of the Bible and her happiness in teaching it to others. If you have ever sat under her teaching, you know. Rudene taught men and women with an amazing depth of Biblical understanding as well as a simplicity that everyone could understand. Within the past thirty years or so, Rudene’s love for Israel brought about many opportunities to teach the Jewish roots of the Christian faith in various denominations and Christian groups in many states. If there is one word that describes Rudene Kennedy, it is Wisdom. She is a wise woman. 1 Kings 4:29 reads “And God gave Solomon wisdom and exceedingly great understanding, and largeness of heart like the sand on the seashore.” This verse describes our Rudene beautifully. There is a word that follows as well…faithfulness. She was exceedingly faithful to her family, her friends, the Body of Christ everywhere and most of all, to her God. One more word must be added…trustworthy. There was no one more worthy of our trust. She will be greatly missed on this earth and greatly enjoyed in Heaven. In 1963, She graduated from Free Will Baptist College with her bachelor’s degree. She went on in 1971 to Old Dominion University and completed her Masters degree. During her life and obedience to the Lord, She did many great things. Her accomplishments are as follows; She worked for the Free Will Baptist Home Missions as a Christian Education Director. She was Dean of Women at the Free Will Baptist College. She organized, managed and directed the Head Start Centers of Virginia. She was the owner/ operator of Anchor Book Shops. She was a college professor at the Community College Systems of Virginia, Paul Palmer Institute, & James Sprunt Community College. She was the founder and first superintendent of Wise County Christian School. She was the owner and operator of Deno’s pizza. She also was a field sales representative for Moore Education Publisher’s Inc. She served as President of Lighthouse Christian Bookstore & Coffee Shop. Rudene also was Vice President of Southland Marketing Group and for the last 20 years she was Vice President and Broker at Southland Properties. Her greatest accomplishment and pride was her family.
