Robert’s Obituary Robert Carlton Poole, born April 20, 1936, went to meet his beloved Lord and Savior on Monday, May 4, 2020 at home with his family. He is survived by his wife Tammy Ann Poole of 25 years and his children: Joanne Shockley, Randy Becerra, Debbie Pio, John Poole, David Roaldsen, Bonnie Ashworth, Clark Beavon, Kevin Beavon, Melody Poole, Kara Bacon, Joy Gutierrez, Raymond Pierlioni, April Campbell, Aaron Pierlioni, Nick Pierlioni, and Randy Briggs. He is also survived by his sisters, Beverly Paradiso, Joy Poole, Sandra Robinson, Carol Parisi, Faith Woodcock and Gail Thompson. He is predeceased by his parents, Albert and Laura Poole and his sister Dawna Paull. He leaves 45 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. Bob worked with his father in his painting and wallpapering business from his early teen years off and on into his 20s. While in high school he answered the call to be a minister of the gospel. He entered Eastern Nazarene College to prepare for the ministry and then got married and had a child. Family life and unexpected troubles diverted his attention from finishing the final year. Throughout his life he tried his hand at many things like: working on and selling Singer sewing machines, selling chain link fence for Sears and life insurance for Life of Georgia and NutriLite food supplements and World Book encyclopedia and he even managed a resort. In 1965 he began what was to be a lifetime of educating children. He taught school at old Post Road school in Walpole, Massachusetts until he was told not to pray or to read the Bible in school. That was the beginning of his turn toward Christian Education. He then moved to Florida to become the first principal of a Christian school there. He worked with his brother-in-law selling recreational vehicles during the summer, taught at Englewood Christian school and then began getting Christian Book displays set up in his own and surrounding counties. That led him to start a Christian bookstore and then later a Christian daycare called Honey Tree daycare which continued for several years. He then set out to start a new corp with the Salvation Army, where he led and pastored for many years. Thousands were ministered to and many came to know and follow the Lord. He also worked with the Salvation Army in Brooksville Florida where he met Tammy. Then briefly taught at a private school -Driftwood academy in West Palm Beach where Serena Williams was finishing high school. He had gone to Haiti to minister several times where the Haitians also came to know Jesus Christ as Lord. This was the fulfilling of a dream that his mother (Nana) had about him. One of the things that he looked forward to, was to have a Christian ranch youth ministry and this led him to Sparta, Georgia to fulfill that dream. This dream was denied him by the state of Georgia. But it did not stop him. He worked with counseling addicts and got in trouble for having a podium in the group room and having his Bible in view on his desk. He also made a big point to visit jails and sing and worship in them. In almost every city he lived in, he eventually got involved with visiting the local jails. He was always willing to take anyone in and help them in any way he could and many times he risked more than he bargained for in doing so. He taught at and also did fundraising for Sinclair Christian school, taught at Milledgeville Christian Academy, started Sonrise Thrift store to fund Christian education, held services in a nursing home and taught Sunday school and everyone loved learning from him. He and his wife opened their home to have exchange students come from other countries to stay at their home, attend Christian school and go to church with them. And as a result, one of them went back to their home in Brazil and led their whole family to Christ. His last few years were spent looking to get a ministry started on a college campus in Milledgeville and encouraging others to get involved in Christian education and gospel ministry. He had an ongoing love for music and played the harmonica, organ, piano and most often, the accordion. And from his mother, (lovingly called Nana) he had a love for singing Christian songs and leading others in singing. He also had an ongoing love for poetry, gardening, birds, art, bees, goats, horses and much, much more. He believed that God made each person totally unique and each one should develop their uniqueness for the glory of the Lord. He lived his life to the fullest for Christ and for others and this made a lasting impact on each person that had the privilege of knowing him. Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints. Psalm 116:15 Moores Funeral Home & Crematory has charge of arrangements. Read More
