Obituary Paul J. Heintz, On May 17, 2020, my wonderful son and only child, Paul Heintz, passed away at the age of 49. It appears he had undiagnosed heart disease and other aggravating factors. Paul had sought medical attention several times in the past few weeks for what he described as intense anxiety attacks, but he received nothing of help and the heart problem was not discovered. Paul was intelligent, talented, sweet, and interested in the world. He had a keen and often droll sense of humor and made deep friendships. He was my lifelong buddy. He showed tremendous compassion as our family was dealing with the long illness and death of his uncle Shawn this past January. He kept the hospital TV tuned to Shawn’s favorite music over the internet and comforted Shawn’s daughters Heather and Carrie during the ordeal. He was a loving father to his 10-year-old daughter, Corinne. The two Aquarians shared an interest in Star Wars, rock music, computers, and new experiences. He would get such a loving and amused smile at some of Corinne’s doings, especially when she put on “fashion shows” at a young age. He thoroughly enjoyed being her daddy. I hope she gets a chance to say goodbye. Paul was living in Milwaukee but grew up largely on my parents’ farm near Eagle and on a couple of military bases when I was in the service. My mother often to care of him and was a big influence. In Eagle he could tag along with my dad, who played the accordion for family gatherings and my two younger brothers who had a rock band. Paul became an excellent guitarist himself and played in several local bands, the most recent of which was “Beerfish.” Paul attended Carroll College for a time and most recently worked for AT&T as a technician and cable TV installer. A previous job took him all over the country, servicing often remote cell towers. The last year or so he was unable to work due to nerve pain after an accident after which a muscle in his back had to be removed. Before that he had fallen from a second story ladder while working and broke both his arms. He endured a lot of pain and frustration. Paul is survived by me (Pam Berger of Milwaukee), his daughter Corinne (age 10) and his former partner Julie, both of Illinois, his grandmother Isabelle Berger of Wauwatosa, his uncle Jerry Berger, Jr. of Sullivan, and a great aunt Darlene Williams in Maine. He made friends of several of his cousins and chatted with them regularly on Facebook. He also leaves a friend Monica Werner whom he knew since High School. On the Heintz side he is also survived by aunts Linda Steeves and Julie Heintz, and uncles Tim and Jamie and their families. Paul’s father Christopher Heintz, my first husband, passed away just four days after Paul died, collapsing while mowing the lawn. Both were too young to leave us. Paul was preceded in death by his grandfather Jerrold M. Berger and grandparents James and Marion Heintz. He was also preceded in death by his uncle Shawn Berger and his long-time stepfather Michael G. Taylor, and other people who cared about him. Our hearts are all broken. -Pam Berger Visitation Monday, June 1, from 6 PM until time of Service at 7:30 PM, at CHURCH AND CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME, 15250 W. National Ave., New Berlin.
