Norma’s Obituary Norma Marie (Hart) Oatman, 89, Harrisonville, MO, passed away Thursday, April 9, 2020 in Harrisonville. Services to be held at a later date. Norma was born March 14, 1931 in Angola, KS, the daughter of James Charles Bird and Edith (Traxson) Hart. She married Arthur Clifton Oatman, Jr. on July 28, 1950 in Independence, MO. They had lived in Independence; Raytown, MO; Prairie Village, KS; Merriam, KS; Overland Park, KS; before moving to Belton, MO, and then Harrisonville, MO. Norma was a member of the Belton Restoration Branch in Belton, MO. Every Memorial Day, she and Arthur would go to the cemeteries on Memorial Day and lay flowers on the graves of all their family members. She did genealogy via postage stamps and later e-mail, that has since been brought into the digital world by family members. She loved family dinners and always had a dog. Norma was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 63 years, Arthur, on November 3, 2013. She is survived by three sons, Wayne Oatman (Erica), Peculiar, MO, Roger Oatman, Belton, MO, and Ray Oatman, Independence, MO; one sister, Winola VanArtsdalen, Georgetown, TX; one cousin, Phyllis Griffith, Coffeeville, KS; 10 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
