January 21 1943 May 29 2020
Linda Marie McCain, 77, of Medicine Lodge, KS, died Friday, May 29, 2020 at Medicine Lodge Memorial Hospital. She was born on January 21, 1943 in Tama, Iowa, the daughter of Earl Meneley and Virginia (Crawford) Meneley. When she was young, her family moved to Kansas, first to Wichita and then on to Topeka. She graduated from Seaman High School in 1961. On January 25, 1963, she married Dale McCain in Topeka, KS and to their union two daughters, Tammy Lindale and Tricia Marie, were born. In 1972 they moved to Smith Center, KS and worked together in ministry in three Smith County churches. The most important roles in Linda’s life were being a wife, mother and grandmother. She had a love for conversation, honesty in all things and sharing about her Lord with others. Linda was probably most well known for her laugh. She found contentment and joy in most every situation. On May 19, 2007, Dale passed away and she lived the rest of her life in Medicine Lodge so she could be near her family. She loved being near and spending time with her grandchildren. Cheerleader and taxi driver became her new roles and she continued the role of spiritual mentor to her family, as well as her new friends. She loved nothing more than to have her kids or grandkids stop by for a conversation. Every Saturday in the fall you could find most of the family at her house watching the OU Sooners football games. Surviving are two daughters, Tammy (Clint) Lonker and Tricia (Chris) Larkin, all of Medicine Lodge; grandchildren, Courtney Lonker of Medicine Lodge, Zachary Larkin of Midland, TX and Avery Larkin of Hays, Kansas, one brother, David (Sandy) Meneley of Topeka; two sisters-in-law, Willa Dean (Lee) Kensing of Topeka, KS and Linda Cox of Joshua, TX; five nephews one niece, many great nieces and nephews and a host of friends. Linda was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her sister, Mary Meneley and one brother-in-law, Larry Cox. Visitation will be on Monday, June 1, 2020, from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Tuesday, June 2, 2020 from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Larrison Funeral Home, 120 E. Lincoln, Medicine Lodge, KS 67104.
