Obituary John Paul Whinnie, 75, of Oden, MI passed away on May 17, 2020 at Boulder Park Terrace in Charlevoix. He was born on April 2, 1945 in Detroit, MI, the son of George and Mary Jane (Delorey) Whinnie. John graduated from Saint Gregory High School in Detroit, and immediately enlisted in the United States Army to serve our country during the Vietnam War. Upon returning home, John began his career at Ford Motor Company where he worked for 26 years before retiring. John is survived by five children, Shane Whinnie of Adrian, James (Mandi) Whinnie of Lansing, David Whinnie of Indian River, Steven Whinnie of CA, and Richard Whinnie of Boyne City; a brother, Bill Whinnie of FL; and three grandchildren, Danielle Whinnie, Easton Whinnie, Teagan Whinnie. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Mary Jane Whinnie; and five siblings, Ron Whinnie, Larry Whinnie, Valerie Whinnie, Sue Hicks, and Sheila Petrusch. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Charlevoix County Veterans Affairs. A private burial will take place at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, MI. Arrangements are in the care of the Charlevoix Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes.
