Obituary Mr. Idus Lawson, age 76, of Covington passed away Thursday, May 28, 2020. He was born in Covington of March 6, 1944 to Idus Grady and Hattie Mae Gilbert Lawson who have preceded him in death. Mr. Lawson graduated from Newton County High School and worked for Hercules. Following his retirement, he moved to Lake Sinclair. Mr. Lawson enjoyed hunting, fishing, and being on the lake. He is survived by his daughters Jil Gowens of Gainesville, Amanda and Christina Lawson of Monroe, his grandchildren Tyler Gowens, Lacey Gowens, and Kolton Anderson, his great grandchildren R.J. Gowens, and Kasyn Burdett along with several other family members and close friends. Graveside services for Mr. Lawson will be held at 11 o’clock Saturday, May 30, 2020 at Covington City Cemetery.
