Obituary David Gene Schisler, 74, passed peacefully on May 21, 2020. Dave was born June 3, 1945 in Greenbush Township, Illinois to Virgil and Viola (Brown) Schisler. Following his attendance at Normal High School, Dave enlisted in the United States Army with honorable discharge in 1971. He received the following honors: National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal and Good Conduct Medal. Following his service, Dave enjoyed a long career as a truck-driver traveling around the country selling western hat. Dave had a passion for drag racing and motorcycles. It wasn’t uncommon to find Dave at the drag strip or at Conesville causing a little mischief and having a lot of fun. Some of his favorite toys include a ’67 Camero, ’69 Camero, ’69 Dart, and a ’95 Softtail. He was preceded in death by his parents and infant grandson, Tyler Schisler. Left to cherish his memory include his family: Davie and Teresa Elliott of Edgington, Danny Forschee, Mississippi, Joey (Bridgette) Vale, Andalusia, Andrea Elliott, Milan, Sarah (Konrad) Elliott, New York City, a daughter, a son and grandson.
