Concetta Connie Rafter January 1,1910 – April 22, 2020 A few wonderful things about my grandma Concetta Mastriano was born in Brooklyn on Jan. 1, 1910 She passed peacefully at Clove Lakes Health Care & Rehabilitation Center Moving to Staten Island over 50 years ago, She and her husband lived with their son Patrick Joseph Rafter. She spoke about the death of her husband Patrick Joseph Rafter, Concetta always said he was wonderful and one of the best men on earth. She was a seamstress during her younger years and volunteered much of her time to Holy Child R.C. Church in Eltingville. Connie was a founding member, active parishioner and part-time church employee responsible for handling donations. Interestingly, when she was 8-years-old, a doctor once told Connie’s mom that her little girl wouldn’t live much longer. Was he ever wrong ! Her mom would give her a diet of raw egg, goats milk and chicken. Concetta lived for many years with her sister Anna Cipriano until she went into Clove Lakes Health Center Family and friends loved going to see the both of them for Sunday dinner, and eating all there home cooked Italian food. She always baked cookies for everybody, and liked to bake sugar cookies At age 65 see learned to drive so she could help raise her four grandsons when their mother died. When new doctors would come and check on her they were always amazed and questioned her age. The doctors would always inquire about what see ate and drank. Grandma would tell them home made Italian food. Concetta is survived by her 3 grandsons and many family members. Grandma you will be truly missed, May God Bless you on your new journey.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Concetta Rafter January 1 1910 April 22 2020.
