Obituary Benjamin Franklin “Banjo” Cameron, age 69, of Mt. Sterling, Illinois passed away at 12:15 p.m. Thursday, May 28, 2020 at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Illinois. He was born October 30, 1950 in Hazel Green, Wisconsin the son of Donald Ray and Camilla Magdalene “Kit” Staver Cameron. He married Darlene Phillips and she survives. Mr. Cameron worked at Oscar Mayer in Beardstown for several years. He always enjoyed landscaping and had also worked for Freesen Brothers Landscaping in Quincy, Illinois. Mr. Cameron graduated from St. Mary’s Academy in Mt. Sterling with the class of 1968 and later received an associates degree. He was of the Catholic faith. Ben truly loved gardening, canning, fishing and making wine. Survivors also include 1 son Ben Cameron of Quincy, Illinois. 2 grandchildren Jessica and Jillian Cameron. 3 brothers Edward Cameron (Julie) Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Michael Cameron (Ann) of Rushville, Illinois and Mitchell Cameron (Charlotte) of Hersman, Illinois. 2 sisters Christine Cameron of Mt. Sterling, Illinois and Mary Reich (Rick) of Versailles, Illinois also survives along with several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers Gary & David Cameron and 1 brother-in-law Lewis Logsdon. Cremation will be accorded and a private graveside service will be held in the Benville Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Memorials are suggested to Brown County Against Cancer and may be left or mailed to the Hendricker Funeral Home, 406 South Capitol Avenue, Mt. Sterling, IL 62353.
