June Walthall May 29, 1932 – May 30, 2020 Share this obituary Send Flowers Upload Photo| Sign Guestbook| View Guestbook Entries| Send Sympathy Card| Memorial Donation Betty June Walthall, age 88, of Warsaw, MO, went to be with her Lord and Savior early Saturday morning, May 30, 2020. She was born on May 29, 1932, near Edwards, MO, the daughter of Elmer and Gorda (Waisner) Drennon. June grew up in the Edwards-Knobby area and graduated from Warsaw High School in 1949. She was united in marriage to her grade school sweetheart, Larry Walthall on September 15, 1951 at the Warsaw Methodist Church Parsonage by Rev. Wesley Hampton. June and Larry made their home in Warsaw. June first worked for Osage Valley Bank and later began working part-time for the Community Bank of Warsaw and Boring’s Drug Store. She went full time at the Community Bank, later known as UMB, retiring after 43 years of service as a loan officer in 1996. June enjoyed her involvement with the Benton County Banker’s Association over the years and other banking organizations that she served in. Early in life, June professed her faith and joined the Edwards United Methodist Church. She later transferred her membership to the First United Methodist Church of Warsaw where she was an active member her entire life. She was Sunday school treasurer of the church and the memorial scholarship fund for many years as well as a member of the WSCS ladies’ group. She was active in her Wesley Sunday School group and following her retirement, cooked for the Warsaw Lion’s Club for 20 plus years. June first began volunteering for the American Cancer Society and then became a charter member and was very involved in the beginning of the Benton County Cancer Fund to assist cancer patients in Benton County. For many years, June and her husband, Larry, volunteered many hours in organizing their fund-raising golf tournaments which has been named the Larry and June Walthall Annual Benton County Cancer Fund Golf Tournament. June was a charter member of the Shawnee Bend Ladies Golf league and the Benton County Historical Society. Over 50 years ago, June and Larry organized and began the pitch club hosting the first game in their home. Community involvement was important to June and she left her mark on many organizations by giving of herself to promote and support them. June and Larry enjoyed traveling and yearly took a vacation to see and visit new places. After retirement, they enjoyed traveling in their RV and made many new friends traveling across the country. They were fortunate to visit all fifty states including Alaska and Hawaii. First and foremost, June was a homemaker who was devoted and dedicated to her husband, Larry, and loved and cared for their dogs, Tex and Sammy. She loved her nieces and nephews as if they were her own children and always looked forward to their visits and their annual family gatherings. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Don Drennon and three sisters, LuElla Ingram, Katheryn Bell, and Helen Ozbolt. Surviving is her devoted husband of 68 years, Larry, of the home, many special nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, other family and a community of friends. Visitation will be Tuesday, June 2, 2020, at the First United Methodist Church of Warsaw from 10:00 AM to Noon. DUE to Covid-19 , social distancing will be required and those attending will be ask to pay their respects to Larry from a distance. Due to limited seating, the funeral service at 12:00 Noon will be attended by family. Graveside services will follow at Riverside Cemetery which will be open to the public. Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church or the Benton County Cancer Fund in care of the Reser Funeral Home, Warsaw, MO.
