Devoted husband to Frances for 62 years. Loving father of Robert and Mary Jane Marshall (Collingswood NJ), Melody Stevenson Marshall (deceased) and Christopher Marshall (Collingswood NJ). “Poppy “ was the proud Grandfather to Adam Marshall and Kristen (Palmyra NJ), Jessica Marshall-Gerber (Haddon Twp NJ), Bobby and Danielle Ryan (Ottawa Canada), Melody Marshall and Joey (Deptford NJ) and Grace Marshall (Haddon Twp). Great Grandfather to Jane, Mary, Luke, Gina, Leia, Sara, Paul, Rosy and Lisa Gerber (Haddon Twp) and Chase and Riley Ryan (Ottawa Canada). Brother to Donna Manzi (Williamstown NJ) and Suzi, Sandra, and Cinda (MS). Nephew of Elizabeth “Aunt Betty” (CA). Son of a career Navy man, Bob enlisted and served in the Marine Corps where he quickly rose to the rank of Sargent. Bob and Fran were married in the late 50’s. They started a family and by the mid 60’s had purchased a starter home in Collingswood where after relocating several times they would return to stay. Bob worked as a foreman/bricklayer in a specialized field of construction which required nationwide travel. While he enjoyed the hard work and good salary, Bob wanted to be home with his family. He really wanted a business of his own. As entrepreneurs, Bob and Fran owned a Jeans Joint, two women’s boutiques, a carpet cleaning company, a Motel in Wildwood NJ, a Quick Lube Station, and they spent a summer with a Jet Ski Rental business at the Jersey shore. Success came when Bob opened his own construction company, this time employing his sons. He was 55 years old. Family was important to Bob. In addition to his own and extended family, he offered support and kindness to anyone who needed it. He had a great sense of humor. He was humble. People who knew him, respected, liked and loved him. He loved life. It is impossible to define a life in words. There are decades of memories with so many people, so many lives that were touched in many ways. For those who were lucky to have known Bob, keep him in your hearts and minds and he will be with you always. The family has decided that due to the current crisis, the memorial celebration of Bob’s life will be postponed to a later date. Please include your email to be notified.
