Robert’s Obituary OXFORD: Robert (Bob) F. Goldberg, age 72, entered into eternal rest on April 16, 2020, at UCONN Health Center in Farmington. He was the beloved and devoted husband of Judith Dewey Goldberg, Robert was born in Mineola, New York on January 17, 1948, son of the late Leon and Alice Connolly Goldberg. He graduated from Ridgefield High School in 1966 and proudly volunteered to join the United States Air Force. After his honorable discharge as a Sergeant in 1970, Robert went on to enhance his education at Sacred Heart University in Fairfield earning his Bachelor’s Degree in business and meeting Judi, his wife of 45 years. After working in the business field for many years, he decided to pursue his passion in teaching and began to substitute teach in the Oxford School System. Furthering his education in 2006, he received his Master’s Degree and teaching certification from the University of Bridgeport in business and history. He went on to teach in the Bridgeport School System until his retirement. Bob believed in giving back to his community. Being an active member and volunteer, he devoted much of his time serving as Republican Town Chairman, President of the Lions Club and President of the Oxford Soccer League. His most rewarding attribute was coaching the girls U14 travel team and Great Oak Middle School girls’ soccer team. He enjoyed reading the town’s newspaper “Voices” to see the academic and athletic accomplishments of his former players and students. Bob was an intelligent, witty, fun-loving man who loved to entertain his friends on the weekend. He was famous for his delicious beef dishes followed by a great movie enhanced by his surround sound. He will be greatly missed. In addition to his wife Judi, he is survived by his brother, Stuart Goldberg and his wife Jill of New York and a niece, Robin Goldberg also of NY as well as many wonderful friends. Due to the current State of CT health guidelines, Bob was privately buried in the State Veterans’ Cemetery in Middletown with United States Air Force military honors. There will be a public celebration of Bob’s life for all to join at a later time and will be announced.
