Obituary Patrick John McCabe, age 80 of Fruitport Township, passed away from lung cancer on Monday, April 27, 2020 at home. He was born August 7, 1939 in Northwood, North Dakota to John and Anne (Moen) McCabe. Pat proudly served his country for 30 years in the United States Coast Guard and retired as a CWO4. He then went to work as a fuel handler at Consumers Energy Port Sheldon and retired after working faithfully for 17 years. Pat is lovingly remembered and will be greatly missed by his devoted wife and best friend of 31 years, Suzanne (Hackney) McCabe; 6 children: Kelly (Chris) Smart, Shawn (Kathryn) McCabe, Matt (Susan) McCabe, Ryan (Lynette) McCabe, Jennifer (Ernest) Miller, Katie (Dave) Wilson; 18 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild; brothers-in-law, Dan (Bernita) Hackney and Alan (Pam) Hackney; sister-in-law, Cindy Hackney; and several nieces, nephews, and their families. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother-in-law, Ralph Hackney, Jr. A private family service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Patrick McCabe to Trinity Reformed Church.
