Private graveside for Monty R. Abney 78, of Cochran, who died Wednesday at his residence with his family by his side. Will be held Friday in Evergreen Church Cemetery with Rev. John Cadwell officiating. Mr.Abney was born in Bleckley Co. son of the late Thomas B. and Susie Abney. He was preceded in death by brothers J.T. Abney and Frank Abney and a sister Clara Lou Abney. He was a graduate Cochran High School Class of 1960 and a graduate of Middle Georgia College. He was a retired employee of Robins Air Force Base, a member of Evergreen Baptist Church were he served as a Sunday School Teacher with senior Adults and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. Survivors are his wife Janis Faulk Abney of Cochran; son Mark ( Billie Jo ) Abney of Tifton, daughter Doreen (Jason) Harrington of Griffin; brother Carl (Ruby) Abney of Cochran; grandchildren Will Harrington, Evie Harrington, Beth Harrington, Ella Abney and Bailey Abney.
